Buying energy-efficient appliances can now save you more money than ever. While they have always helped you cut your electric bill, they now come with a cash rebate, too.
Over $1.2 million in American Recovery Act funds have been awarded to Maine for an energy-efficient appliance rebate program.
Starting on October 1, Mainers can get cash rebates when they buy Energy Star appliances that use less electricity, saving money and conserving the environment.
Unlike the popular “ cash for clunkers” car program, consumers do not need to trade an old appliance to be eligible for rebates. Just obtain a mail-in rebate form from the retailer and send it in with your receipt.
