Congresswoman Chellie Pingree issued the following statement today after FairPoint Communications walked away from labor negotiations with unions representing 2,000 employees.

"I am very disappointed that the company has walked away from the bargaining table and is unilaterally imposing a contract on the thousands of men and women who work for them. The unions representing these workers have been negotiating in good faith and have already offered significant concessions. These are highly skilled employees and Fairpoint should come back to the table and offer them a fair deal that keeps these workers on the job and keep these highly skilled jobs in Maine."
