Congresswoman Chellie Pingree today applauded Thornton Academy Headmaster Rene Menard for receiving the President’s “E” Award for the school’s enrollment of international students.  Menard was at the Department of Commerce today to receive the award, which recognizes efforts to increase U.S. exports.  

“I’m thrilled that the Department of Commerce has highlighted this innovative effort to offer Maine-based education to international students,” said Pingree.  “Bringing these visiting students to Saco for a quality education has provided Thornton Academy the extra revenue it needed to expand academic programs for local students while raising our state’s profile on an international level.  My congratulations go to Mr. Menard and the rest of the Thornton Academy community on its great success.”
