“House Republicans have done absolutely nothing this Congress to reform our immigration system. In fact, House Republican leadership won’t even allow us to vote on a historic immigration bill that Republicans themselves demanded. Yesterday’s baseless, partisan impeachment vote will do nothing to meaningfully improve conditions at the border or deliver resources to states like Maine that have welcomed asylum seekers. Their current political sham will tie up Senate business as the nation faces urgent problems at home and abroad — from funding the government and passing a Farm Bill to supporting our allies. House Republicans are content to address none of them in favor of a chaotic stunt that will only waste time and resources.”
