PINGREE OP-ED: There is a human cost to Trump’s ‘wrecking ball’ presidency
Washington,
March 4, 2025
Ahead of President Trump’s State of the Union address, Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) wrote an Op-Ed for the Bangor Daily News about the human toll of the Trump Administration's reckless and illegal actions; about the broader economic dangers of tearing down government agencies; and about the power of making your voice heard. In her piece, Pingree wrote about the many Mainers who have reached out to her office and shared their stories and now fear for their livelihoods and well-being. “These are everyday, hardworking Mainers. They’re our neighbors. Our friends and loved ones. And they’re being actively harmed by the scorched-earth tactics of President Donald Trump and Elon Musk. They’re worried about what the future holds. For themselves, their families, their communities, and their country,” Pingree wrote.
“The American people, including those in Maine, are pushing back against this chaos and corruption. I am grateful for everyone who is making their voices heard, sharing their stories, and taking action,” she said, and thanked everyone who has shared their story. “Please know that I hear you, that I’m fighting for you and that I’ll continue to do everything I can to stop the Trump Administration’s illegal and unconstitutional actions.” Click here to read Pingree’s full Op-Ed. Tonight, Pingree will attend the State of the Union with her guest, Seth Kroeck, a Maine farmer who has been directly impacted by the Trump Administration’s illegal federal funding freeze. ### |
