Pingree Announces $6 Million to Fund Casco Bay Lines Ferry Replacement

Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-ME) announced today that Casco Bay Lines in Portland would receive a $6 million Federal Transit Administration grant to replace a ferry boat that has exceeded its useful life. “I’m very pleased that Casco Bay Lines will receive this vital funding to help keep its fleet running smoothly,” said Pingree. “These ferries not only give thousands of tourists a taste of what Maine islands have to offer, but are key to the sustainability of year-round island communities. I am a proud advocate for the Passenger Ferry Program in Congress both for its value to our economy and way of life.” Casco Bay Lines has two ferries that will reach the end of their useful lives over the next five years, and will soon be deciding which one to replace with these funds. |
