Congresswoman Chellie Pingree issued the following statement tonight about President Obama's announced executive action on immigration.

Keeping families together who have lived here in the United States for years is a worthy goal and will begood for our economy and our communities. A permanent fix to our broken immigration system needs to come from Congress, but the truth is that Republicans in the House have refused again and again to take up comprehensive reform, so I'm glad that President Obama, like 11 other presidents before him, is taking this first step.
