Congresswoman Pingree calls the mass shooting "sad and tragic"

Congresswoman Chellie Pingree issued the following statement about the mass shooting at the Navy Yard in Washington, DC.

It is sad and tragic that we once again find ourselves trying to grapple with another mass shooting. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families and the survivors. This tragic and senseless loss of life isonly made worse by the fact that it appears at least some of the victims were serving the country in uniform.

Although we may learn more details about the shooting and the motives behind it in the days ahead, thebigger question is what can we do to bring an end to these senseless acts of violence in the future.
