Statement on Indictment of Trump Advisers
Washington, DC,
October 30, 2017
After special prosecutor, Robert Mueller, issued criminal indictments for two of President Trump’s campaign advisers, Paul Manafort and Rick Gates, as well as a plea deal for George Papadopoulos, Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) released the following statement: “A special prosecutor and congressional inquiries have revealed criminal actions by Trump’s advisers, but preserving democracy requires full transparency. After Michael Flynn resigned in February, I called for an outside, independent investigation into Russian interference in last year’s election. We should not be in a position where President Trump can undermine those charged with uncovering the truth about Russian interference in our elections." |
