Veterans Business Outreach Center Program (VBOC)

Deadline March 29, 2016. Organizations will provide information on small business ownership to service members and military spouses by facilitating and instructing the U.S. Small Business Administration’s “Introduction to Entrepreneurship” known as “Boots to Business” which is a course offered within the Department of Defense Transition Assistance Program (TAP). Additionally, these organizations will provide counseling, training, technical and financial skill development, comprehensive business assessments and mentoring to veteran, service disabled veteran, active duty, Reserve, Guard, and military spouse/survivor entrepreneurs and small business owners interested in starting new or expanding/diversifying established small businesses.

Higher Education Challenge Grants Program

Deadline April 22, 2016. Projects supported by the Higher Education Challenge Grants Program will: (1) address a State, regional, national, or international educational need; (2) involve a creative or non-traditional approach toward addressing that need that can serve as a model to others; (3) encourage and facilitate better working relationships in the university science and education community, as well as between universities and the private sector, to enhance program quality and supplement available resources; and (4) result in benefits that will likely transcend the project duration and USDA support.

HOPE VI Main Street Grant Program

Deadline April 12, 2016. The HOPE VI Main Street Program provides grants to small communities to assist in the renovation of an historic or traditional central business district or Main Street area by replacing unused, obsolete, commercial space in buildings with affordable housing units.
