Congresswoman Pingree frustrated by a partisan spectacle that put funding in jeopardy for weeks.
Congresswoman Chellie Pingree released the following statement after she voted with her colleagues in the House today to approve funding for the Department of Homeland Security through the end of the federal fiscal year. “I’m glad the Speaker finally brought a clean bill without controversial immigration riders to the floor. With so many dangers at home and abroad, it’s absolutely critical that the men and women of the Coast Guard, TSA, FEMA and other agencies charged with ensuring the safety of the American people can continue to do their jobs. But I’m extremely disappointed that it needlessly took so long. We could have done this a week ago, or even two months ago, and avoided the dangerous partisan spectacle that created so much uncertainty at such a crucial time.” |
