Congresswoman Chellie Pingree participates in 'Wreathes Across America'

Pingree lays Maine-made wreathes on graves at Arlington National Cemetery

On Saturday, Congresswoman Chellie Pingree participated in “Wreathes Across America” at Arlington National Cemetery.  Approximately 150,000 wreaths manufactured by the Worcester Wreath Company in Harrington, Maine, were sent to veterans cemeteries across the country, including 16,000 wreathes laid on graves at Arlington National Cemetery this morning.

“I was honored to be part of this tradition this year,” Congresswoman Pingree said.  “And it was a privilege to be able to lay wreathes from Maine on the graves of brave men and women who have served our country.”

“I also was glad to be able to thank Morrill Worcester personally for making Wreathes Across America possible,” Pingree said. “What started as a warm and heartfelt gesture in 1992 has grown to include thousands of people all across the country.”

Pingree also visited the U.S.S. Maine Memorial watched a wreath being laid at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier during her visit to Arlington National Cemetery today.
