Pingree Announces More Than $2 Million CARES Act Grant to Casco Bay Lines to Keep Jobs, Respond to COVID-19 Pandemic

Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) today announced the Casco Bay Island Transit District (CBITD) is receiving a $2,683,915 grant from the Federal Transit Administration through the CARES Act, passed by Congress in March. “I supported the CARES Act in part because it provided support and funding for organizations across our economy—from small businesses to arts organizations to transportation,” said Pingree. “I’m pleased to see Casco Bay Island Transit District receive this sizable grant from FTA, which will go a long way towards retaining jobs, keeping the ferries and facilities clean, and making sure islanders have reliable transportation home.” The more than $2 million grant will support operating, administrative, and preventative maintenance costs for the CBITD ferries and facilities in response to COVID-19’s public health and economic consequences. ### |
