Pingree Announces $3.3 Million for PPE Distribution in Maine

Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) today announced the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded the State of Maine $3,353,905 to purchase personal protective equipment (PPE) during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Since the beginning of this pandemic, I have been fighting for federal funds to support distribution of personal protective equipment in Maine. Our state and our hospitals should not be left to shoulder this substantial financial burden alone,” said Rep. Pingree. “Personal protective equipment is critical for everyone to keep safe during the pandemic. From cloth masks for the public to isolation suits and N95 masks for essential personnel, all Mainers need access to protective gear to help flatten the curve.”

The Maine Department of Administrative and Financial Services received $1,857,375.38 in federal funding to purchase Level 2 Isolation Suits, important PPE to protect essential workers against the spread of COVID-19. The Maine Department of Administrative and Financial Services also received $1,496,529.75 in federal funding to purchase disposable non-sterile isolation gowns and disposable isolation suits for statewide distribution, as well as support for testing.
