Chelsea Student to Attend Naval AcademyJack H. Begin was nominated by Congresswoman Chellie Pingree

Congresswoman Chellie Pingree announced today that Jack H. Begin of Chelsea has accepted an offer to attend the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Pingree nominated Begin to the Academy in December. “Acceptance to a U.S. service academy is extremely competitive and reflects highly on a student’s scholarship, community service, and character,” said Pingree. “Along with all the other Maine students I nominated, Jack has demonstrated an incredible commitment to serving the country and a maturity well beyond his years. I’m very proud that he was accepted to the Naval Academy and wish him the very best in his time there.” In his letter requesting a nomination, Begin wrote “I want to spend my undergraduate years at a service academy and then pursue a career in the U.S. military, carrying the principles of respect, perseverance and loyalty along with me, while protecting the freedoms of the country that I dearly love.” Jack is a senior at Cony High School His parents are John and Michelle Begin.
