February 9, 2022
Congresswoman Chellie Pingree announced today that George P. Theall of Portland has accepted an offer to attend the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Pingree nominated Theall to the Academy in December. “Acceptance to a U.S. service academy is extremely competitive and reflects highly on a student’s scholarship, community service, and character,” said Congresswoman Pingree. “Along with all the other Maine students I nominated, George has demonstrated an incredible commitment to serving the country and a maturity well beyond his years. I’m very proud that he was accepted to the Naval Academy and wish him the very best in his time there.” “I have been working hard to achieve the honor of going to the U.S. Naval Academy to continue all of my interests in flight and STEM as I explore my future paths within the Navy,” Theall wrote in his letter requesting a nomination. “I would be honored to serve as an officer in the United States Navy and have the chance to give back to my country.” George is a senior at Portland High School. His parents are Linda Braley and George Theall. Contact information is available on request. To be considered for an appointment to a service academy, applicants must be nominated by an authorized nominating source, which includes Members of Congress.
