  Following President Joe Biden’s announced sanctions against Russia, Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) released the following statement:

“President Biden is right to join our European allies in issuing this first set of strong sanctions against Russia and its oligarchs. We should be very clear about what is happening: Vladimir Putin has created this international crisis by attempting to overthrow a sovereign democracy. The United States must send a clear message to Russia’s government that this aggression will not stand without consequences.”
