Following President Biden’s prime-time address on Thursday, Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) released the following statement: “President Biden is absolutely right: The ‘MAGA’ philosophy that has taken over the Republican Party is extreme. At every turn, Congressional Republicans are working to deny the disturbing events of January 6, undermine trust in our electoral system, and limit access to the ballot box. With passage of major bills like the Inflation Reduction Act, the American Rescue Plan, the Honoring our Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxics (PACT) Act, and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, Democrats in Congress and President Biden have delivered real, life-changing legislation for the American people. While we celebrate these historic accomplishments, we must recognize that the threat to our democracy is real, and we cannot back down.
