Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) today announced that Camden J. Hamilton of Falmouth has accepted an offer to attend the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colo.

“Acceptance to a U.S. service academy is extremely competitive and reflects highly on a student’s scholarship, community service, and character,” said Pingree, who nominated Camden to the Academy in December. “Along with all the other Maine students I nominated, Camden has demonstrated an incredible commitment to serving the country and a maturity well beyond his years. I’m very proud that he was accepted to the Air Force Academy and wish him the very best in his time there.”

“I have always felt it is my destiny to serve the country,” Camden, a senior at Falmouth High School, wrote in his letter requesting a nomination. “I will graduate high school with a nursing assistant degree. I plan to continue on a pre-medical track and continue on to hopefully serve as a combat rescue officer in the Air Force.”

To be considered for an appointment to a service academy, applicants must be nominated by an authorized nominating source, which includes Members of Congress.
