Fiscal Year 2022

Each year, the United States Congress considers and enacts annual appropriations bills that provide the federal government with the funding it needs to operate. As a member of the House Appropriations Committee since 2013, I’m proud to fight for federal assistance to support communities across Maine.

The Fiscal Year 2022 appropriations process will permit Congress to fund specific projects for the first time since 2011 in the form of Community Project Funding. This process will allow Members of Congress to submit a limited number of local projects to the Committee for funding consideration, in accordance with important transparency and accountability measures.

A guide to Community Project Funding is available here, including requirements as well as criteria for evaluation for requests. If you have questions about which accounts are eligible for Community Project funding, click here.

Fiscal Year 2022 Community Project Funding applications must be submitted by 6:00 PM on Monday, April 19, 2021. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered. If you have questions, please contact pingree.cpf@mail.house.gov. For a list of FAQs about Community Project Funding, click here

The House Appropriations Committee has outlined these minimum requirements to prioritize transparency, accountability, and strong community support when considering these requests:

  • Members may submit no more than 10 requests and must make their requests publicly available on their website.

  • Only projects with demonstrated community support will be considered.

  • Funding is for Fiscal Year 2022 only; requests for multi-year funding will not be considered.

  • Eligible recipients are state and local governments and non-profit organizations as described under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986. For-profit entities are not eligible.

  • Federal programs may require a state or local match for projects (more about matching requirements is available here). The match will not be waived.

  • Requests are limited to the eligible accounts specified in the FY22 Community Project Funding Request Form. Project requests must meet all of the additional requirements specified for each account.
