My top priority in Congress is lowering your cost of living and making life more affordable for you and your family. If Donald Trump and Republicans continue to stonewall, insurance premiums will double because of expiring health care tax credits. The tax credits are often the only thing that allow millions of Americans to afford a doctor’s visit, care after an accident, or prescriptions for their kids. Without these tax credits, more than 27,000 constituents across Maine’s First District could see their annual health care premiums rise by nearly 200% — costing families over $11,000 more each year on average. Our communities cannot afford this extreme price hike on health care. Democrats in Congress are working hard to permanently extend these tax credits so American families will not have to worry aboutpaying more than twice as much for their health care. Many people in Maine and across the country have already begun receiving notices of their insurance rates going up. I want to hear from you: How will health care price increases impact you?
