Pingree joins New England colleagues in closely watching the proposed merger
Today Representatives Annie Kuster (NH-02), Chellie Pingree (ME-01), and Peter Welch (VT-AL) released the following statement on the proposed sale of FairPoint Communications to Consolidated Communications: “Thousands of customers across our districts rely on FairPoint Communications for access to internet and phone services both at home and at their businesses. Any acquisition or merger of FairPoint must ensure that these services are not disrupted or reduced. As the Federal Communications Commission examines this merger we will push to ensure that the economic competitiveness of our region is carefully taken into consideration. We will closely monitor this proposed merger to ensure that there is no negative impact to our constituents that rely on FairPoint services.” |
