Pingree Asks House and Senate Leadership to Reject President Trump’s Attack on Federal Workers

Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) and 158 members of the U.S. House have written to House and Senate leadership to request that they reject President Trump’s plan to rescind a modest 1.9% cost of living adjustment for federal workers, including thousands of employees at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard.

“After signing a multi-billion-dollar tax break for corporations and billionaires, it’s disingenuous for President Trump to say our country cannot afford a cost of living increase for federal workers, like the thousands of hardworking women and men employed by Portsmouth Naval Shipyard,” said Pingree. “Congress should ignore the President’s attacks on federal workers and press ahead with the modest, bipartisan 1.9% pay increase already approved by Senate Republicans and Democrats.”
