Congesswoman Chellie Pingree issued the following statement about Defense Secretary Robert Gates scheduled visit to Maine later this week:
"Secretary Gates visit highlights the significant role Maine plays in our country's defense, with BIW, the Brunswick Naval Air Station and the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard all in our state. I am very pleased that he is coming to BIW to tour the yard so he can meet the men and women who build the best ships in the world. Bath Iron Works is a world-class facility in a world-class community. I'm glad Secretary Gates is getting to see it up close."
