Pingree Announces $1.2 Million for PPE in Maine
Washington,
December 22, 2020
Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-Maine) today announced the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded the State of Maine $1,191,258 to reimburse the State’s purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE) during the COVID-19 pandemic. “Front line responders are risking their lives daily to keep us safe and to help fight this virus. Since the start of the pandemic, I’ve advocated for federal funding to support the distribution of PPE in Maine—this substantial financial burden shouldn’t be the sole responsibility of the State or our local hospitals,” said Pingree. “I’m glad this funding will help alleviate the cost burden of personal protective equipment.” The Maine Department of Administrative and Financial Services received this funding to purchase disposable masks for front line responders, important PPE to protect essential workers against the spread of COVID-19.
