Maine’s First District Congresswoman Chellie Pingree will again serve on three House Appropriations Subcommittees: Interior, Environment and Related Agencies; Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration and Related Agencies; and Military Construction, Veterans Affairs and Related Agencies. Pingree, who was Chair of the Interior Subcommittee in the Democratic-controlled House last Congress, will be Ranking Member of the subcommittee in the 118th Congress.

“As we navigate the Republican-controlled House this Congress, I’m grateful to my Democratic colleagues for once again giving me the opportunity to serve on these important Appropriations Subcommittees. Last Congress, my fellow Democrats and I crafted and passed historically successful appropriations bills that invest in our communities and, as Interior Appropriations Chair, I oversaw unprecedented investments to fight the climate crisis, dedicated the highest level of federal funding to the arts and humanities ever, and continued our commitment to tribal nations,” said Pingree. “As ranking member of the subcommittee in the 118th Congress, I am dedicated to defending those gains and working with members from across the aisle to build on those successes into the future.”

As Chair of the Interior, Environment and Related Agencies Subcommittee in the 117th Congress, Pingree wrote Appropriations bills for the 2022 and 2023 Fiscal Years that made unprecedented investments that reflect House Democrats’ enduring commitment to environmental justice, renewable energy, health infrastructure on tribal lands, and the arts, among other notable investments.
