Congresswoman Chellie Pingree says work will fund logistical support for DDG1000 construction Congresswoman Chellie Pingree, a Member of the House Armed Services Committee, said today that Bath Iron Works has been awarded a $14 million contract extension to provide logistic support for the construction of the DDG1000 class of ships. "This contract helps keep workers on the job and work moving forward on the DDG1000 line," Pingree said. "Bath continues to produce the best built ships in the world and the Navy knows it." The contract allows BIW to provide technical and industrial engineering to support construction and the maintenance of the DDG-1000 ship design. The first DDG-1000, the USS Zumwalt, is under construction at BIW and is scheduled to be delivered to the Navy in 2013. |
