Contract provides additional funding for design work on next generation destroyer Congresswoman Chellie Pingree, a Member of the House Armed Services Committee, announced a $17 million contract addition for work being done at Bath Iron Works on the design of the new DDG1000 class of destroyers. "This contract addition is important to keep the work going on the DDG-1000 design and construction and keep the top notch workers at BIW on the job," Pingree said. "The skill level and experience of BIW workers is a critical asset to our country's defense industry and it's important to do everything we can to keep them fully employed. We can't afford to lose them." The contract announced today is a modification to a previous contract to provide additional services related to the design, construction and maintenance of the DDG 1000 class of destroyers. Three DDG 1000s are currently under construction at BIW. |
