One of my top priorities is making sure that we are doing everything we can to help and support our men and women in uniform who were sexually assaulted during their service. I am an original cosponsor of the I Am Vanessa Guillén Act to create an independent system for members of our armed forces to report the harassment or assault they've suffered.
I have also proudly cosponsored the VA Peer Support Enhancement for MST Survivors Act to ensure veteran survivors of MST have access to peer support specialists trained to assist them in navigating the disability compensation process.
Over the past decade, I lead the charge to reform Question 21 on the Security Clearance Questionnaire, which asks applicants to disclose mental health counseling they have received. More here.
