Congresswoman Chellie Pingree released the following statement today after it was announced that President Obama would nominate former Maine Congressman Mike Michaud to be U.S. Department of Labor Assistant Secretary for Veterans’ Employment and Training. 

“This important post is an absolutely perfect fit for Mike.  Throughout his time in the Maine Legislature and Congress, I saw him fight tirelessly for both workers and veterans.  His experience as the top Democrat on the House Committee on Veterans Affairs and his longtime work on labor issues, including being a union member for 30 years, will serve him well in this key position.  I hope the Senate moves quickly on his confirmation so he can help our veterans get to work.”
